Terms of Use: ADA (Acoustic Drone Alert)

1. What ADA is
ADA listens, on your phone, for sound patterns that resemble a drone, and tells you when it thinks it has heard one. Detection happens on the device. Optional saved locations describe where the phone heard an observation. The Map tab shows saved phone observation points and incident clusters, with model and time filters. Its optional My location marker shows the current device, not a drone. You can deliberately open or export selected data to another app. Optional Telegram notifications can send acoustic alert facts to a destination you configure; optional technical JSON attachments provide measurements for inspection and future comparison. Location inclusion is a separate choice and audio is not attached. Reports can also be saved or shared directly from History without Telegram, using only saved data. Older records may lack acoustic evidence; bounded exports disclose omitted windows or passes. Local report capture and location inclusion are optional independent choices. External copies remain controlled by the selected destination. Technical reports, model hypotheses and embeddings do not establish an individual drone identity or a calculated drone position.
2. What ADA is not: please read this part
ADA is an indicative acoustic detector. It is not a security system, not a safety system, and not a countermeasure. Do not rely on it for anything where being wrong matters.
Specifically, and honestly:
- It will miss drones. Wind, traffic, rain, distance, an unusual aircraft, a quiet one, or one approaching from downwind can all mean ADA hears nothing at all.
- It will sometimes alert when there is no drone. Fans, HVAC, lawnmowers, distant traffic and other steady machinery can resemble a rotor.
- A model name is a guess. When ADA names a drone model it is reporting similarity to recordings it was trained on. It is frequently "Unknown", it can be wrong, and it says nothing about who is flying, from where, or why.
- It cannot locate a drone. Optional location tagging records the observing phone, not source direction, distance, altitude or an aircraft track.
- Acoustic detection only works while armed, with the microphone available to it. Another app, a phone call, or your phone's battery manager can stop it, and it will not restart itself.
- Detection quality varies by device, microphone, environment and app version.
- Telegram delivery is not guaranteed. Messages can be delayed, missed, duplicated or uncertain. An acoustic alert does not confirm a physical drone. Peer confirmation, matching and triangulation are not provided by this notification feature.
You must not use ADA as the basis for decisions affecting personal safety, security, property, legal action, or compliance with any regulation. If a drone matters to you that much, use equipment built and certified for the purpose.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use ADA only where recording ambient audio is lawful. Audio-recording and privacy laws vary by country and by state, and some places require the consent of people present. ADA ordinarily discards audio, but can save short alert clips when you explicitly enable that option. You are responsible for using and exporting audio and location data lawfully.
- Do not use ADA to harass, surveil or target anyone.
- Do not rely on it in any safety-critical context (see section 2).
4. Permissions
ADA asks for microphone and notification permissions for monitoring. It requests foreground location permission after you enable optional detection location tagging or tap My location on Map; approximate location is supported. Incident tagging runs only during armed sessions. The separate live My location display runs only while Map is foregrounded and does not save incidents or turn on tagging, microphone monitoring or Telegram sharing. Saved-map viewing and microphone detection remain available when location permission is denied.
Opening the embedded Map tab connects to Google Maps. Google processes map requests and SDK information as described in the Privacy Policy. Map views depend on network, Google services and location availability; ADA does not promise offline maps, an exact device position or a drone position. Opening a saved point in another map app, or exporting data, instead passes the selected data to your chosen destination under that destination's terms and policies.
Internet access also supports Google Play purchases/access checks where enabled and optional Telegram setup and delivery. An ADA account is not required; Google Play uses the purchaser's Google account for its own purchase/restoration flow. You are responsible for choosing an appropriate destination, controlling bot credentials and posting rights, and understanding that messages accepted by Telegram cannot be removed through ADA's local deletion actions.
5. Licence to use the app
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use ADA on devices you control. You may not resell it, or present its output as a certified or professional detection service.
5.1 Free monitoring sessions
These access rules apply when your installed version offers free-session accounting and ADA Pro. A version that does not offer subscriptions does not activate one merely because these terms describe them. Reading or accepting these documents never buys a subscription.
The allowance is 20 free monitoring sessions in total, not 20 per month. One free session normally counts when successfully started monitoring stops or reaches three hours, whichever comes first. Cancellation grace: request manual Disarm before the first 30 seconds of actual monitoring, using the app or its notification, and no free session is consumed. At exactly 30 seconds or later, Disarm counts normally. The grace applies only at the start of the whole run, not at later three-hour boundaries. Microphone interruption, app/service termination and phone shutdown after capture starts still count, even within 30 seconds. A failed capture startup uses none. While monitoring and access continue, each three-hour boundary begins the next available free session without requiring another Arm. A four-hour run followed by Disarm therefore uses two sessions. An abrupt interruption is reconciled from saved records; ADA does not count phone-off time as continuing monitoring.
An eligible cancellation remains in monitoring history as Cancelled during grace period with zero free sessions used. Eligibility uses the received Disarm request time before microphone teardown; recorded end time/duration can include that teardown. Earlier recorded charges and usage totals are preserved; the new grace does not retroactively refund past monitoring.
The app shows your remaining allowance and monitoring history. It warns before the final free session ends. At zero, real microphone monitoring stops unless valid ADA Pro access exists; starting another monitored session requires eligible access. Detected incidents do not each consume another free session. The labeled microphone-free demo, saved-data controls, Settings, help, legal documents and subscription-management routes remain available after exhaustion. No subscription begins automatically when free sessions end.
Clearing completed monitoring details or incident History does not reset the usage ledger. Usage/reinstall protection is best effort. When accounting is enabled, a minimal used-count recovery copy is kept through Google Play services Block Store; detailed monitoring history is not backed up or transferred. Recovery can preserve usage across reinstall when Android Backup is enabled and Google Play services supports it. Clear app storage, disabled Backup and other restore/reset conditions can remove the recovery copy. ADA requests Google-managed cloud backup of the minimal counter, subject to your device's Backup settings and Google's supported restore flows. Google associates backups with your Google account; ADA requires no separate login and operates no recovery server. Backup is periodic, not guaranteed immediate synchronization; an available local copy does not confirm a cloud upload. Recovered usage can only raise valid local usage, never reduce it, and missing older run details are explained. If neither valid local nor valid recovered usage exists, the app initializes the allowance. No guaranteed unresettable allowance per person or device is promised.
5.2 ADA Pro, renewal and plan changes
ADA Pro provides continued acoustic monitoring without the free-session limit while paid access is valid. It does not improve detection accuracy or change any limitation in section 2, and buying it does not turn on optional location, clips, reports or Telegram sharing.
Where offered, choose a monthly or annual auto-renewing option. The app and Google's purchase sheet show the available localized full price and billing period before you decide. The annual option is one recurring payment per year, not a monthly payment. There is no subscription free-trial offer in this launch configuration; the separate 20-session allowance requires no subscription enrollment. Selecting an option does not charge you. A purchase requires your explicit action and confirmation through Google Play, and pending payment alone does not activate Pro.
Subscriptions renew automatically on their monthly or annual schedule until cancelled in Google Play. Use Settings → Monitoring access → ADA Pro options → Manage subscription in Google Play, or Google Play subscriptions. Check the Google account used to purchase. Uninstalling ADA does not cancel the subscription. Cancelling future renewals alone does not remove still-eligible paid access; confirmed expiry, hold or other loss of eligible access is separate. Google handles refund requests under its refund policies and applicable law; cancellation alone does not promise a refund. These terms do not remove mandatory consumer rights.
For an offered monthly/annual change, ADA requests replacement of the existing subscription with the new charge at the next billing date and no immediate additional charge. Review the actual terms Google Play shows before confirming. It is not a second independent subscription; Google may reject an unchanged/unsupported option. ADA does not invent a renewal/expiry date from the original purchase timestamp. A valid plan change preserves Pro access and your free balance; it does not restart the microphone or reset usage.
Valid Pro monitoring consumes no free sessions. If Pro is confirmed during an unfinished free session before it is charged, that unfinished session stays uncharged; earlier completed usage remains counted. The run can continue without interruption. Pending, declined or cancelled checkout alone does not waive usage. When Pro access ends, any unused free sessions remain available for a deliberate new Arm; there is no allowance reset or automatic microphone restart.
5.3 Restoration and offline access
Restore purchases checks Google Play for eligible ADA Pro using the purchaser's Google account; no ADA login is required. Restoration does not reset the allowance or reconstruct old monitoring details. If a purchase is missing, check that account, restore again when online, or use Manage subscription and support. Do not buy again merely to troubleshoot missing access.
ADA can allow Pro monitoring for up to seven days after its last accepted successful access check confirming eligible Pro. A failed or unavailable check neither extends that window nor immediately discards still-valid saved access. The app checks when available and warns before the local verification window ends. A successful determination that access is no longer eligible, or the end of that verification window, stops paid monitoring with an explanation. Remaining free sessions can be used only after a deliberate new Arm.
This is an app verification allowance, not a Google subscription expiry date. Device clocks, reboots, unavailable/corrupt storage and results cached by Google Play can limit verification; ADA may require an online Restore earlier when it cannot safely use saved state. No guaranteed fresh server contact, tamper-proof clock, uninterrupted background execution or access while verification/storage is unavailable is promised. Local sound analysis itself needs no ADA account or network; purchasing/restoring/checking Pro uses Google Play and may need internet access.
6. Third-party and open-source components
ADA includes open-source software and is trained on openly licensed datasets, credited in the app under Settings → Data sources & credits. Those components remain under their own licences. Google Maps content and features are supplied by Google and are also subject to the Google Terms of Service, Google Maps Additional Terms, and Google Privacy Policy. Google branding and map-data attributions identify the map provider; ADA incident markers do not imply Google verified a detection. You must not remove, obscure or misrepresent those attributions.
7. No warranty
ADA is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. No guarantee is made that it will detect any given drone, that alerts are accurate, or that it will run uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, ADA, including any missed detection, false alert, incorrect model name, or interruption of listening.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of sections 7 and 8 may not apply to you, and you may have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.
9. Changes
These terms may change with new versions of the app. The bundled documents identify their versions. A material change to these terms or the Privacy Policy requires explicit agreement through the app before further use; reading a document or returning from it does not accept it. An update or a free-session explanation does not purchase Pro or enable optional sharing.
10. Feedback and reviews
Sending feedback, sharing the app link and submitting Google Play reviews are optional. You control email drafts and the content you submit. Your selected email/sharing provider and Google Play handle these actions under their own terms and policies. They do not certify a detection or change the limitations described above.
